” It takes a long time to become young. “
“We don’t grow older, we grow riper.”
Today is the 25th of October and it’s time to blog again! First of all I would like to congratulate Jean-David to his 21st birthday but beside him there are also other great people who share this birthday, such as George Bizet (171), Johann Strauß (184) and Pablo Picasso (128).
Happy birthday to all of you!
I would like to take a deeper look at Pablo Picasso in this entry. I have seen two very interesing Picasso exhibitions in Paris and London and they gave me a really new perspective of this great artist who was a Spanish Cubist Painter and Sculptor (1881-1973).
“Picasso loved all painters. He could stand hours in front of one painting and observe it. He didn’t have prejudices.”, told the curator of the exhibition Picasso et les maîtres in Paris this year. Picasso himself quoted “Bad artist copy. Good artists steal.”
The exhibition in Paris was about Picasso and his role models which were mainly Valazquez, Goya, Rembrandt, Manet and Cezanne. It was interesting to see the original painting which inspired him and his way of “stealing” and transforming it into a completly different one.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once we grow up”
“Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun”

Very interesting topic, Sarah! I like the way you write and how you involve the quotes in your texts. I especially enjoyed the painting by Diego Velazquez which inspired Picasso to a totally different young girl.
I am looking forward to see the next quotes you choose…

You also forgot another important birthday; my own! haha
It is amazing to see how Picasso alters paintings to make them his own. I have never seen this one of the young girl, however his transformation truly represents the original painting in a whole new way.

I have read your blog entry and that reminded me of the exhibition in Paris. I was happy to see my favourite painting “Boy leading a horse” there.
